Community

As a church community, who are inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus, we seek to serve the people of North Devon with Joy, especially those in the village of Bishops Tawton.

We run a Baby and Toddler group on Tuesday mornings, a Pop-up Cafe on Wednesday mornings and a Coffee Morning on the first Saturday of the month. Our Community Larder is located in the church porch for local people.

The churchyard is cared for offering a space for everyone to remember loved ones.

The church supports the local Foodbank and The Freedom Centre, The Community Welcome group in the village, and we have links with the local primary school and uniformed groups.

Baby and Toddler Group

The group meets in Church on Tuesdays in term time from about 9.00am to 10.45am.

There is always a warm welcome, refreshments, children’s activities, stories and singing.

Pop-Up Cafe

The Pop-Up Cafe takes place in Church every Wednesday from 10.00am – 1.00pm.

You will be sure to receive a warm welcome and will be able to enjoy the children’s corner, jigsaws, crafts, cake, tea, coffee, bacon butties and soup.  We sometimes have live music so keep an eye out for those specials!

Small Groups

There are groups that meet to enjoy a cuppa, ring bells, plan worship, be creative with flowers, tidy the churchyard, clean and they all love welcoming new members!

We partner our daughter church in Newport and each week various small groups meet to explore the Christian faith, ask questions and find out what others believe. New members are always welcome for a taster session!

Special Events

Members and friends of the church enjoy being part of various special events during the year including weekends away, shared meals, walks, film nights and concerts!

Supporting our work in the community

If you can make a donation to support the costs of the upkeep of our historic church building, the churchyard and our regular activities supporting village life, that would be amazing!

Here is a link to our Church’s Parish Giving site where you can make a one off donation or set up a small monthly gift.
